Favorite Things Party

Have you ever been to a favorite things party? I have ALWAYS wanted to go to one! So, when my cute friend Dani invited me to her Favorite Things Party I was so excited!! Dani and I met in cosmetology school years and years ago. I always say that hair school friends are like sisters. They have seen you at your worst, you have been through it all together (including every hair color), and you most likely have ruined each others hair and/or nails at one time or another. I can go years without seeing my girls and we can always pick up right where we left off!

For those of you who have never been to a favorite things party before, there are a few ways of doing it! The one I attended last night went a little something like this: we all brought three of our favorite thing(s) that cost around $15. We each got up and explained what we brought. Then names are drawn in 3 rounds, each round you choose something that someone else brought that you would like to try. In the end you get to leave with 3 new favorite things to try out!

MAC Lipstick

Narrowing down my current favorite things can be hard because I have so many things that I can’t live without! Last night I took two of my current favs: MAC Lipstick in the shade Whirl, and Maui & Sons Dark Chocolate Coated Coconut Chips. First of all, Whirl is the most gorgeous and versatile shade of lipstick. It is the perfect neutral that looks amazing on everyone! It is matte and is described as a “dirty rose” color. Love it SO much! It is one of my go to lipsticks!

Maui & Sons Dark Chocolate Coated Coconut Chips

Ok, lets just talk about those Maui & Sons Dark Chocolate Coated Coconut Chips! They are to die for!!! One of my favorite people in the world sent me a few packages about a month ago, and I was in pure heaven. When I first heard about them, I was thinking they could be good but I wasn’t willing to sell my first-born for them..if you know what I mean. Well, lets just say that Veda better mind her manners because they are that good!! They are toasted coconut shavings that are covered in the yummiest dark chocolate. I have never been a huge fan of big chunks of coconut, which was what I was expecting. No, they are thin toasted chocolatey shavings of happiness. You HAVE to try them!! My only complaint is that there is not more in each bag, but that is probably for the best! I have no will power, especially when it comes to those babies! They are also Gluten Free, Non GMO, and never fried…so that’s a total bonus! Also, I had to take a picture of an empty bag because I just couldn’t save them long enough. No will power, I tell ya.

Now, for what I brought home!!

Cravings: Recipes for All the Food You Want to Eat

 By Chrissy Teigen

It’s no secret that I absolutely love cookbooks. There are few things that I love more than cooking, one of them is my family and the other one is eating the food that I cook. I was totally eyeballing this cookbook from the moment I walked into the room. I remember right after Jude was born I would watch FabLife while Veda was at preschool, and it was one of the only “me” shows that I would be able to get in during the day. These days I get zero “me” shows…but that’s a post for another time. Have kids they said. It will be fun they said. ANYWAY, I love cookbooks but I never actually read them read them. Like the introduction and all. I think Chrissy Teigen is pretty funny, and I loved her on FabLife, so I opened up to the Intro page and thought I would skim through a few pages…. 45 minutes later I had READ (like read every word on every page) the entire book. I laughed my butt off. It is so good you guys. And the recipes are really unique, I can’t wait to try them all!

This little honey was the hit of the party. Everyone wanted it, and I was lucky enough to get chosen first so you better believe I snatched it up! It is a key finder, phone finder (even when your phone is on silent!), and selfie remote. It might as well make a pb&j too because this is everything I need in my life!! I’m that girl that looks for her phone for 20 minutes until I go to call my husband to call my phone…because it was in my hand the whole time. Yep, I’m that girl.

NYX Butter Lip Gloss

This is one of my favorite lip glosses! It really feels just like butter when you put it on! It is so soft and luxurious! I got the shade Strawberry Parfait which was exciting because it was one that I have never tried before!! It is really pretty on its own, but I happened to be wearing MAC Girl About Town and it was the perfect gloss to match! Love it!!

One Line A Day: A Five Year Memory Book

So I may love writing, but I am actually the world’s worst journaler (is that even a word??). I got a journal in the 4th grade that I promised myself I would write in every day, and let’s just say that it’s not even half full yet. I absolutely adore it and I even have journal entries from elementary school about my husband, which are so fun to read. When I had Veda I wanted so badly to be the mom that documented everything. I had good intentions, filled out half of a baby book and then life happened. I don’t think I have ever even written anything down about Jude, because I am the worst mother of the century. Words cannot describe how excited  I am to use this book! There are five boxes for every day of the year. The first year you write in the first box, the second year in the second box and so on.

I love that you can see what happened on each day years before. It’s so simple and not overwhelming. I can totally commit to writing a few sentences down everyday and I know that in 5 years I’ll be so grateful I did!

The Favorite Things Party was SO much fun!! It felt like Christmas coming home with new things to try. Have you ever been to one before? Hopefully you found some new favorite things in this post!! What are some of your favorite things or things you can’t live without? Let me know in the comments below!! I am always in search of new favorites and I would LOVE to try yours!!

I love Favorite Things parties. I have been to two and both were so much fun. This last year at the favorite things party I took a book called Maybe Today by David Butler and Emily Belle Freeman. It was a big hit, it is a wonderful book and doesn’t take very long to read. I came home with some amazing gifts my favorite one was a minky scarf. Thank you for this post it gave me some great ideas for my next favorite things party!

Hi Diane! Aren’t Favorite Things parties the best? Thank you for the book suggestion! I am always looking for new books to read! I just heard Emily Belle Freeman speak at Time Out For Women and she was fantastic!
