Pepto Bismol Face Mask

Pepto Bismol Face Mask

AHHHH the many glorious powers of Pepto Bismol. We all remember the jingle “nausea, heartburn, indigestion, upset stomach……….” but did you know that we can add large pores, acne, redness, and dull skin to the list? It’s true!!! Using Pepto Bismol can reduce the size of your pores, clear acne, reduce redness AND make your skin glow!

When I first heard about this little at-home remedy I laughed it off. Honestly, putting the pink chalky medicine that my mom used to force feed me in the unpleasant depths of stomach flu just didn’t seem appealing. Then I noticed the pores on my nose getting larger and I thought to myself “Why not??”. I had some Pepto Bismol in my medicine cabinet and figured I should give it a whirl! Once I put it on I thought to myself, “Wow, this is a new all-time low. I am putting diarrhea medicine all over my face”, but I was slightly hopeful. Aside from expensive products and facials, I haven’t been able to find anything that made my pores visibly smaller. After 20 minutes of some self-loathing and smelling like Christmas mint, I washed it off to see what the results were. And you know what? IT WORKED!!

Pepto Bismol contains salicylic acid which is one of the most effective acne treatments that soothes and calms the skin. It also shares a close chemical relationship to one of the most well known anti-inflammatory drugs available- acetylsalicylic acid, also known as aspirin! This is why it can reduce acne and inflammation of the skin!

All you need is about  1-2 tablespoons of Pepto Bismol. Smooth it evenly all over your clean face (or on your problem areas). Let it sit for about 20 minutes and rinse! It can be a little difficult to remove, but it came off after about 2-3 minutes of washing with warm water and a washcloth! Also, your skin may be a little pink (or in my case, red!) for a few hours after. I suggest doing this face mask at night before bed. In the morning your skin will be back to normal! You can use this as a spot treatment as well, if you don’t want to do the full on face mask. There have been many nights where I will just put it on my nose or acne problem areas.

I have done this pretty regularly for a few months now, and have noticed my pores shrinking. In addition, my skin feels a little tighter and I think it has helped my acne! I love how soothing it feels while it is on, and even after you wash it off! It is important to note that it can dry out the skin some if you use it too often, so I would recommend doing it on more of a weekly basis rather than daily!

You can’t beat almost 24 face masks for under $10!!
